Pickleball
Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton and table tennis. The sport is played on a court with a hard paddle and a whiffle ball. Although pickleball appears to be very similar to tennis, there are key differences that make pickleball more accessible to a wider range of players, particularly seniors.
Line Dancing
Line dance is easy to learn, lots of fun, and terrific exercise. It’s becoming more popular than ever as more places offer dancing. Instructor Annette Fragale teaches at an easy pace to country, Latin, polka, bluegrass, waltz, and contemporary music.
Tai Chi
The slow, fluid movements of Tai Chi promote balance and relaxation. This is the perfect way to learn this ancient-Chinese health exercise. All movements are performed standing. The fun, informative classes are taught by a gifted instructor, having taught the art of Tai Chi for over 30 years.
Rec Center Fitness Orientation
Our fitness orientation is a 45-minute informational session that will teach you the basics of how to use the weight machines and cardio equipment. Learn how to start, stop, and change settings on cardio machines, change seat height and weight selection on machines, and have a discussion on proper form on the weight machines. All participants will receive two FREE Chan Rec Center visits upon completion.
SilverSneakers
Beginning in December 2018, the Chanhassen Recreation Center will partner with SilverSneakers to provide free access to the Fitness Center, Open Gym, and Open Pickleball for SilverSneakers members.
