In addition to the water shutdowns yesterday and today, the Contractor is planning additional shutdowns on Thursday and Friday of this week.  They are planning their work around the weather forecast.  The properties affected by each shutdown will be notified approximately 48 hours in advance of the shutdown.  A flyer will be left at each residence with the pertinent information.

June 5, 2020

The Contractor has been working on setting up temporary water and getting prepared for starting on the replacement of the water distribution system.  On Monday or Tuesday, June 8th or 9th, they plan to begin installing new gate valves.  This operation will require temporary water shut-offs during the day for an estimated total of 3 days.  Home owners who will be affected by a planned temporary water shut-off will be notified by the contractor 48 hours in advance of the shut-down.  The Contractor will leave a flyer at your home for the notifications.  We do everything we can ahead of time to plan to keep the least amount of properties as possible impacted by a water shut-off.  Please be aware that at times certain control valves do not function properly that are needed to shut-off the water per the plan.  This is one reason they are being replaced.  In the case of a planned shut-off where a valve doesn’t function – the Contractor will need to expand the area of the shutdown and additional properties will be affected.  In this case, an emergency shutdown notice will be delivered to the additional properties notifying them of the shutdown.

Throughout the week the temporary water lines will be tested to assure compliance with City standards for potable water.  Further prep work for the new water lines will also take place throughout the rest of the week.  Some additional clearing and grubbing may also occur.  The majority of the tree clearing for phase 1 has been completed.

The following week, residents will be switched over to the temporary water lines and again will be notified 48 hours in advance of the switchover.  Once everyone has been transitioned to temporary water, the contractors will begin the process of pipe bursting, a mostly trenchless way to install the new pipes.  Please be aware there will be excavation pits in the street where the contractor will be performing pipe bursting operations.

Please go slow and use caution if you need to travel through the construction zone.  Any resident who lives north of Lakebridge Rd is asked to use TH 7 to access their property and stay out of the zone where construction is occurring for safety purposes.
